It's a start

I was very lucky to be able at attend a Laura McCabe workshop on Thursday at The Bead Shop Scotland. Laura is so talented it would be intimidating if she weren't so lovely! And an excellent tutor to boot.
The subject of the workshop was the Geo Floral Beaded Bead (Laura's original: left).

This is as far as I have got; one flower done, with 5 more to go.
I fully intend to finish this piece and you dear reader will see the finished piece here..... some time

As almost promised

The finished necklace, quick and satisfying to make, but it makes me feel like an old-fashioned cushion when wearing it.
Ah well.

Delicas can Tweet!

Miyuki Delica have their own Twitter account. Only 4 followers at the moment so please hurry to rectify before they get bored and go away. Share the joy that is the Delica bead*!

*Disclaimer: I am a not-as-embarassed-as-I-should-be obsessive fan, not a Miyuki employee

.....and for my next project

.....I am chomping at the bit to try this little beauty. From issue 17 of Bead Magazine, this amazing necklace by Edith Mattausch Burrows is screaming "MAKE ME!" So I will. My own colour scheme of course. And if I like the result I shall post it here. If I don't, I won't.

The Beading Mojo Returns

Let's hope I'm not tempting fate with that heading...

A twist on an old favourite: I came up with the Paper Chain bracelet a while back, though failed to convert it into a wearable necklace. Well dear Reader, all that has changed, with the new, improved Paper Chain necklace. Ta daa!
I've graduated the links from Size 6 & 8 beads down to Size 8 & 11 beads, with two links beaded in half & half to smooth the transition.

All I have to do now is come up with a fastening. One option is a pearl shortener but I'm thinking a beaded toggle would be more in keeping. I'm off to browse through Diane Fitzgerald's Shaped Beadwork for inspiration.
